Why Georgia will beat Florida

Let's call it The VaTech Factor. I have some good friends and coworkers that live in the DC area who are VaTech alumni. We have occassionally discussed the similarities between the teams and their ongoing issues. Some points that were made during the Vanderbilt game:

Both are consistently ranked at the beginning of the season, sometimes in the top 10.
  • Both tend to lose a game they aren't supposed to every once in a while (although not as much for the Dawgs under Richt)
  • Both started this season with a great defense - each with two shutouts in the first 4 games.
  • Both started the season with a 5th year senior as a first time starting quarterback
  • Both had a hard time scoring against good conference opponents.
  • Both lost two conference games in a row.

So why should the Dawgs win tomorrow? If you watched Thursday night football on ESPN, you realize that VaTech was an underdog, unranked, and playing a conference opponent ranked in the top 10 in the BCS and capable of putting large points on the board. That opponent, Clemson, only scored 7, and was never really a threat to the Hokies.

I never really make predictions, but today is an exception: Georgia 27, Florida 17
